Seatbelts Hardware & Accessories
A seat belt, also known as a safety belt, is a vehicle safety device designed to secure drivers and passengers and protect them from harmful movements during a collision or sudden stop. By reducing the risk of death or serious injury, a seat belt works by lessening the impact of secondary collisions with interior hazards, keeping occupants properly positioned for optimal airbag effectiveness (if the vehicle is equipped with one), and preventing ejection from the vehicle in the event of a crash or rollover.
While the vehicle is in motion, both the driver and passengers are traveling at the same speed as the vehicle. If the car suddenly stops or crashes, the occupants continue moving at the vehicle’s prior speed. A seat belt counteracts this movement, preventing occupants from being thrown out or hitting the interior of the car, such as the windshield. Seat belts are considered primary restraint systems (PRSs) due to their crucial role in occupant safety.
